Al Aleeli said the fish department has allocated a venue to sell fresh fish directly from vendors – the fish market auction. The auction takes place in the traditional way, every day, after afternoon prayers, in an auction area next to the market building. In addition, the market offers a barbecue section, covering an area of ​​up to 365 square meters. This section includes a waiting area for customers, specific areas for the preparation and seasoning of fish and designated areas for grills and barbecue ovens. The Jubail grill has been fitted with central ventilation and air conditioning, to ensure a suitable and comfortable environment for shoppers. All fish and marine products that come to the market are also subjected to sanitary examination to ensure quality, in accordance with the best sanitary standards and practices, and in compliance with the regulations of the health code in force in the UAE.

Al Aleeli said the fresh fish section comprises 40 stores, housing more than 100 vendors. More than 70 professional fish cutters are employed daily to meet the high demands for cleaning and cutting fish at nominal prices. Fish regularly stocked and sold at the souk include sardines, sea bream, shari, safi, tilapia, grouper, salmon, and other local and international fish.
