Start of five-day training course on fish stock assessment and management

Doha: The training course “Assessment of fish stocks and fisheries management”, organized by the Ministry of the Municipality represented by the Department of Fisheries, started yesterday with the participation of a number of technicians working in the field of the Peach.

The five-day course covers a number of key topics, including the identification of basic requirements for fish stock assessment, uses and methods of analyzing the results upon which the proposal is based, publication and the implementation of fisheries regulatory procedures and contribute to future policies on fishing operations and the conservation and sustainability of fish species.

On this occasion, the Director of the Fisheries Department at the Ministry of the Municipality, Abdulaziz Al Dehaimi, stressed the importance of assessing fish stocks and the resulting fisheries management procedures, and spoke of the importance of due to economic, social and environmental issues the importance of fishing which must be preserved and exploited in a sustainable manner to avoid the deterioration of productivity, through the development and implementation of policies and controls studied for achieve, stressing that the course aims to qualify and develop local technical personnel working in the field of fish stock assessment and fisheries management.

The organization of this course is part of the strategy of the Ministry of optimization and sustainable exploitation of living marine resources, contributing to the conservation of fish stocks and the protection of the marine environment.
