McCall’s Meat & Fish arrives on Montana Avenue, PF Changs leaves Santa Monica

Upscale Los Angeles butcher Feliz McCall’s Meat and Fish Co. has new owners and will open a new location in Santa Monica in 2022. As What Now Los Angeles reports, the company’s new owners are David and Michelle Sarraf, but Olin Schneider will continue to serve the company as head butcher. The new location will open at 1426 Montana Avenue in Santa Monica.

The PF Changs in Santa Monica, located at the corner of Wilshire Boulevard and 4th Street, appears to be permanently closed. The building that housed the restaurant, which closed at the start of the pandemic, now has a sign for rent on the window. A listing for the 6,495 square foot space at 326 Wilshire Boulevard has an asking rate of $5.75 per square month, or about $37.46 per month.

Breadblok, Santa Monica’s gluten-free French bakery will expand to several new locations. The first is in the Silverlake area near Pine and Crane on Griffith Park Boulevard, as reported by Eater Los Angeles. Chloe and Celine Charlier, the sisters who own and operate the bakery, will also expand to the Westside when they open two new locations in Venice and Beverly Hills in 2022. Their Instagram page credits their grandparents for the entire Breadblok concept. , emphasizing the importance of living an organic and holistic lifestyle.

Chef Alvin Cailan will be the new chef and face of Umami Burger, the gourmet burger restaurant chain. This collaboration was set up by C3 (Creating Culinary Communities), a global food and beverage technology platform founded by Sam Nazarian. Cailan is an innovative and acclaimed Filipino-American chef who founded the famous Eggslut, a food truck that became a mainstay at Grand Central Market, the Unit 120 pop-up, which was a test kitchen and incubator for new talents and potential new restaurant concepts. which gave birth to the popular restaurant Howlin Ray, among others. He also founded Amboy Quality Meats and Burgers, a burger joint that “always has a line” in Chinatown and was the featured host of First We Feast and Complex Network’s Burger Show for three years. Cailin will be developing a new menu with C3’s culinary talent for Umami Burger using all the knowledge he’s gained about burgers from across the United States while traveling to host the show.
